Dieter Brändle

Dr. iur. Dr. h.c. Dieter Brändle serves as an arbitrator and practices as an attorney with a focus on intellectual property (patents in particular) as well as on commercial law and contracts.

He was president of the Federal Patent Court from 2011 to 2017.

Before that he was assigned to the Commercial Court of the Canton of Zurich.

Furthermore, he has been teaching for many years at ETH Zurich (postgraduate course on intellectual property), the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (preparatory course for admission as patent attorneys), and the European Patent Academy (training for judges).

In 2022, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Bern.

Dr. iur. Dr. h.c. Dieter Brändle has been admitted to all Swiss courts since 1980.

He speaks German, English and French.
